The NHL is averaging 6.3 goals per game in 2021-22, the highest in 26 years (6.3 in the 1995-96 season). 42 percent of all games were won by a team that came from behind to win. Four players have already scored 50 goals and all belong to teams that secured a playoff spot: Auston Matthews (TOR), Leon Draisaitl (EDM), Chris Kreider (NYR) and Alex Ovechkin (WSH). Eight skaters have achieved or are well on their way to a 100 point season, including five who have already achieved that mark: Connor McDavid (EDM), Jonathan Huberdeau (FLA), Johnny Gaudreau (CGY), Draisaitl (EDM) and Matthews (TOR).

Four teams currently holding a postseason spot did not participate in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including three new teams in the Western Conference (West: CGY, LAK, DAL; East: NYR). The race has been particularly close in the Western Conference, where the “playoff line” has been a five-point or less difference all season long — since February 11, that difference has been three points or less every day.

The grand prize for the Stanley Cup® NHL Jerseys Playoffs Bracket Challenge is attendance at an NHL event in the 2022-23 season, awarded to the competitor who tops the rankings.
