After 40 minutes against the Florida Panthers, the New Jersey Devils looked like some sort of winner. At the Prudential Center, the home team led 6-2 after two quarters and lost 6-7 in overtime after the Panthers’ incredible comeback. Florida State once again proved its reputation as the best comeback team in the NHL Jerseys.
The Devils came out of the locker room at the start of the game and quickly walked to the front with a brace. Yegor Sharangovich and Jack Hughes made it 2-0 for New Jersey in 17 seconds (4th). The Devils continued to dominate the game as the game went on, shooting 12-5 by the end of the first quarter. Only a goal from Ben Chiarot (10th) overshadowed an otherwise perfect third.
The game was similar in the second 20 minutes. New Jersey made it 4-1 early with goals from Sharangovich (23′) and Janne Kuokkanen (23′). Radko Gudas secured the connection again (32nd). Outnumbered, Sharangovich completed his first NHL Jerseys hat-trick (35th) and Andreas Johnsson won (37th), which was actually considered a certainty.
“We should be talking about his Sharangovich incredible hat-trick, his strong game and our big win,” Damon Severson hoped after the game. “Unfortunately, we’re talking about a great hat-trick for him and a loss for us.”
